Common Tasks
How do I see all the pages currently on the system?
1. Click "Special Pages" from the "Toolbox" on the left hand side
2. Click "All pages" from the top of the list
How do I find a page about a particular place?
1. Enter the name of the place in the "Search" box on the left hand side and click go.
2. Choose the article from the results.
How do I create an account?
1. Click the "log in / create account" link in the top right and the click the "Create Account" link
2. Follow the instructions to create an account.
How do I log in?
1. Click the "log in / create account" link in the top right.
2. Enter the username and password that you gave when you created the account.
How do I edit my "Home Page" and add Travelogues?
1. After you have logged in, click on your name in the top right corner of the screen.
2. If you have edited your home page before, you will now see your home page. Click the "Edit" button in the tabs at the top of the page. If you have not edited your home page before you can go straight on the the next step.
3. You will now see a toolbar and a text box where you can type the content of your page. Just type the name of the travelogue entry you want to create surrounded by double-square brackets... e.g.
[[My holiday on the moon, 2006]]
4. Click the "Save" link at the bottom of the text box.
5. You should now see the title of your travelogue shown in red on your Home Page. (It's in red because it hasn't been created yet)
6. Click on the title of the travelogue to go into the "Edit" page and create the travelogue.
7. Type the text of your holiday review. (Don't worry about photos at this stage, we'll add them later.)
8. Use preview the button to check it looks ok. Fix any mistakes you notice by correcting the text in the text box at the bottom of the page.
9. Click the save button to save the holiday.
10. If you want to change your review after you have saved it, click the "Edit" button and make any changes you need to.
How do I add photos to my travelogue?
1. Upload the photo by clicking on the "Upload file" link in the "Toolbox" on the left.
2. Follow the instructions to upload the file and make a note of the exact name that it is saved as.
3. Upload as many photos as you want up to the article maximum of 5.
4. Click on "my contributions" in the top right of the screen and it should show you all the things you have added - your reviews and your photos.
5. Click on the review you wish to add the photos to and then click the "edit" tab at the top.
6. In the text of the review, where you want to add the photos, enter Image:MyPhoto.jpg but replacing "myPhoto.jpg" with the exact name that the photo was saved as.
7. Click the "Save" button.
