The Hanningfields

The Hanningfields in Essex are surrounded by beautiful countryside. I recently stayed at The Old School House in East Hanningfield. East hanningfield is linked to West Hanningfield via St. Peters Way, an ancient pilgrim path that connects St. Peters Church on the east coast of Essex in Bradwell with the west of the country.

Local area and pubs

This is a great place to visit for a nice quiet relaxing holiday. The walks are easy as the area is not very hilly. There are many public footpaths across open farmland to explore. East Hanningfield has two pubs, The Windmill which is near The Old School House (a self catering cottage), and also the Three Horseshoes. West Hanningfield also has a nice country pub, the Three Compasses, which has seating outside the front by the country lane. You really feel like you are in the depths of Essex when there.

Accomodation

I found the Old School House on Blakes Cottages. The facilities were really good, like living in a home from home for a week.
